After I designed the BrickPlayer logo for this website, I realized right away it would make a great sculpture and planned to eventually build it from bricks. This weekend I built it, and here it is…

I considered replacing the Microsoft Paint generated logo I’m currently using on this website, but so far I’ve been unable to size and clean-up the photographs well enough to be satisfied.

Earlier this week I posted an article about a LEGO Cat Birdhouse I built. Although I designed it with features to make it (somewhat) practical as a real birdhouse, I really never intended to put it outside and let the elements destroy good LEGO bricks. This made me a little sad because the birdhouse would never really have any birds as visitors. Unless… I built a LEGO bird for it!

Last week I posted my first attempt at building a LEGO Birdhouse, which was a scaled-up version of a tiny (minifig-sized) birdhouse. This week I’ve built another birdhouse. This one is of a cat head, with the mouth of the cat as the opening for the birds. I’m also entering this one in the contest (see birdhouse post linked above for more about the contest).

After hearning about the LEGO Birdhouse Contest being held by Thorz BrikTopia, one of my minifigs headed straight for the basement and got to work on his contest entry. Before long, his work was done and his simple, but functional birdhouse was complete.

Since this minifig wasn’t technically one of my children or a member of BrickLink, he was very sad to hear that he didn’t qualify for this contest. However, I agreed to build a 20x scale version of his creation, which would be allowed and would be reasonably sized for the human world.
Here are a couple pictures of my scaled up version of minifigs birdhouse design. READ FULL ARTICLE »

Finally, after one of the longest winters I can remember here in Wisconsin, it’s starting to feel like spring. So, you might be wondering what I’m thinking featuring this 10X LEGO minifig skier!

I thought about trying to get a couple pictures of her outside, but what little snow is left is not very photogenic. It’s mostly just the piles that have melted down so much that they are as much dirt as snow. So the typical pictures on the grey carpet will have to do.
Full article has a few additional pictures including a close up of the skis. READ FULL ARTICLE »

Over the past few years LEGO has released several Spongebob Square Pants sets. There is even one of a large robotic Spongebob that is ‘controlled’ by Plankton. Like a lot of newer sets, it gets most of its detail from stickers and large pieces, rather than a large number of more basic elements. It is part of an overall trend that I’ve also see many of the City themed sets follow. After seeing the LEGO version of a big Spongebob, I decided to do a similar-sized sculpture of my own.

A couple more pictures follow, including the Spongebob picture I used for inspiration for this model. READ FULL ARTICLE »

While working on another project a few days ago, I had the stud bumps removed from several of my 10X Scale LEGO Bricks. I was using the bricks for temporary supports and the bumps were in the way. After removing the bumps, I noticed they appeared to be the perfect size to use as checkers for the improved LEGO Chess Board I had just completed. I put them on the board, and they looked great, so I built a set.

A few more detailed pictures follow.

Previously, all of the 10X LEGO Minifig sculptures I’ve posted about have been men. In fact, more than one person has referred to my minifig sculptures as ‘LEGO Men’. Today I am introducing a couple of ladies into the mix.

As always I’ve positioned the normal-sized figures on the sculptures for comparison, this time on their wrists. READ FULL ARTICLE »
